Chief Operating Officer (COO)
We're on a mission to perfect how the world buys, owns, and trades vehicles - with data at the core. Operating in 30+ markets and growing fast, we need a seasoned professional to make sure the organisation actually runs at its best.
About the Role
As COO, you will be a key member of the management team, owning the operating and performance management system. You will step into a well-established role and improve it - turning plans into measurable results, keeping the organisation efficient and operationally resilient, and ensuring a high-performance culture across every level of organization. Working closely with the founders, you will make sure all critical operational areas are properly covered and aligned with the carVertical vision.
What You'll Do
1. Own Company Performance & Execution
Build and run a company-wide KPI system - translating strategy into measurable goals with clear ownership and accountability.
Track performance across teams and departments, stepping in when execution drifts to restore focus and delivery.
Ensure full transparency on progress, priorities, and decisions, adjust structure and resourcing when reality requires it.
You own the system that turns strategy into execution and keeps the company performing.
2. Design the Operating System and Embed AI into It
Identify bottlenecks and optimise end-to-end processes across teams and workflows.
Define and implement scalable operating processes: ownership, decision-making, execution cadence.
Ensure automation decisions are grounded in clear impact - speed, cost, and quality.
Continuously identify AI opportunities across the organisation, turn them into real implementations, and drive adoption so they become part of how the company operates day-to-day.
You design how the organisation works, continuously improve it as a system, and use AI as a real lever - not a buzzword.
3. Build a High-Performance Culture
Lead the HR team towards a performance culture by embedding clear standards across the organisation.
Ensure performance is clearly defined, measured, and reviewed through KPI-driven systems.
Support structured, data-driven decisions on hiring, promotions, role changes, and exits.
Embed accountability, ownership, and high standards into how every team operates.
You shape performance culture through people, systems, standards, and the example you set every day.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience scaling operations in a high-growth, multi-market environment.
Strong systems thinking - you naturally understand how everything connects, and where it breaks.
Experience building and running performance systems.
High ownership and accountability standards - you hold yourself and others to them.
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset; you are comfortable in ambiguity.
Genuine interest in AI and automation as core operational levers - not just a talking point.
Strong communication skills and the ability to read, handle, and de-escalate complex situations -whether one-on-one, within teams, or across the organisation.
How You Work
You empower people through clear ownership and accountability, but address underperformance promptly and directly when needed.
You set a high bar and lead by example - your standards are visible in how you work, not just what you ask of others.
You are flexible - you adapt as the company evolves, whether that means shifting focus, embracing new directions, or adjusting how you work. In a fast-moving, multi-market environment, change is constant and you move with it.
What We Offer
A seat at the table where real decisions are made.
Salary starting from €8,300 gross/month + company's employee stock option plan (ESOP).
We've got your health covered - private health insurance included.
We top up the standard vacation allowance by 10 days - 30 in total per year.
Flexibility that goes beyond the office - team workations and personal workation opportunities included.
A strong professional development package - dedicated budget, time, and resources to keep growing.
From team building activities to company wide celebrations - we make time to connect beyond work.
And last note: if this resonates, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
